This series explores the emotional and physical transition process of adolescent boys growing up in the in the South Bronx. They are expected to exceed their parents’ achievements while withstanding the negative influences surrounding them. Creating the family they weren’t lucky enough to be born into allows them to stay alive with possibility. It is a portrait of a generation of young men so often targets of stereotyping by the public, in particular the media, who are nevertheless determined to stay out of trouble. The fabric of daily existence in the South Bronx is juxtaposed with sensitive portraits and moments of quiet reflection.
