Jesse Cesario

With these images I was looking for a way to remove awkwardness from the traditional portrait setting. Because we were so overwhelmed by the waves and water, there was very little space for self consciousness. In an attempt to capture unselfconscious emotions, i moved us to a situation where we were both out of a comfortable control.
There is an emotional connection between myself and the subjects, but at the same time, the ocean becomes as much of a subject as the person, and takes on its own life. It’s not only my own communication with them, but also how they interact with the water.
