Francis Holstrom
Reflection and distortion are embraced in the work to draw attention to our distance from the events depicted, our distance from nature, our distance from the ‘real’. Since much of our lives are lived online, I have begun to look for subject matter here, and rely on the poignancy of the floating subject / adultered image to create a new story. Fascinated by natural disasters and newsworthy events, much of my work functions on the edge of beauty and horror.
