Massive earthquake and tsunami hit the northern part of Japan on March 11th, 2011. It was one of the worst earthquakes ever in history, and as of June 28th, 15,506 people were killed, 7,297 people still missing, and approximately 90,000 people living in shelters. Most of the casualties were swallowed by the tsunami.

This natural disaster also revealed other social and technological problems, human-made disasters so to speak, such as failure of the emergency management by the government, the nuclear power plants in Fukushima that went completely out of control, discrimination against the evacuees from the neighborhoods of the radioactively contaminated area, and social anxiety and rumors caused by the concealment of information in media.

Through my work, I want to question the relationship between nature and human beings, the price we had to pay for our mistakes and audacity, and how we can cope with the aftereffects and problems that lie in front of us when we try to rebuild our world, so that we will never forget this catastrophe and the lost lives.
